How TO MEASURE YOUR KITCHEN

STEP 1
Measure overall wall length and height
- Measure the length of each wall from corner to corner.
- Measure the ceiling height from the floor at multiple points.
- If there are soffits, bulkheads, or bump-outs, measure their height and depth.

STEP 2
Measure Windows and Doors
- Measure the width and height of each window and door (frame to frame).
- Measure the distance from the nearest wall to the edge of the window or door.
- Measure from the floor to the bottom and top of the window.

STEP 3
Mark Plumbing, Electrical, and Gas Locations
- Identify where plumbing fixtures are located (sink, dishwasher, fridge water line).
- Measure and record the distance from each fixture to the nearest wall and floor.
- Include locations of electrical outlets, switches, gas lines, and breaker panels.

FINAL STEP
Final Step: Create a Simple Drawing
- Draw each wall as a straight line and label it (Wall A, Wall B, etc.).
- Place windows, doors, plumbing, gas, and electrical items in the correct spots with measurements.
- Your sketch should be neat, labeled clearly, and include all dimensions so a designer can understand your space without visiting in person.
